Together, we can create a safe, welcoming space for young adults facing loneliness, mental health challenges, and social disconnection in Kingston.
We’re launching a Community Café & Wellbeing Hub in the heart of Kingston to support young people aged 18–30 who are struggling with isolation, emotional distress, or disconnection.
This will be more than just a café. It will be a home away from home:
- A space to belong
- A place to be seen and heard
- A hub for healing, purpose and community
From free hot drinks and creative workshops to quiet zones and peer-led support, everything shaped by the people it’s for.
Young adults in Kingston are facing a quiet crisis:
- 1 in 5 young peopleaged 16–24 in the UK experience chronic loneliness (ONS, 2022)
- 79% of Londoners aged 18–24 report experiencing mental distress (GLA Survey, 2021)
- Despite being an affluent borough, parts of Kingston—like Norbiton, Chessington, and Tolworth—struggle with hidden poverty, housing insecurity, and lack of accessible support
Too many feel invisible, anxious, or unsupported. We want to change that.
In Kingston
Despite Kingston’s reputation for affluence, a growing number of young adults aged 18–30 are facing hidden challenges, including loneliness, anxiety, and poor mental health. Around 28% report high psychological distress, while 1 in 5 regularly feel lonely. Many lack access to supportive, non-clinical spaces, with 10% classified as NEET (not in education, employment or training) and rising referrals to mental health services. These statistics highlight a pressing need for community-based interventions that offer connection, purpose, and belonging—especially for those who feel unseen or unsupported in traditional settings.
Your support will help us launch a space where young people can:
✅ Drop in for a chat, tea, or a quiet place to breathe
✅ Join peer-led groups, creative workshops and wellbeing events
✅ Volunteer or gain work experience in a non-judgemental environment
✅ Connect with local mental health, housing, or employment support
✅ Feel they belong, even when life feels hard
- Co-designed by young adultswith lived experience of anxiety, family estrangement, or social exclusion
- Guided by a Young People’s Advisory Group
- Supported by local partnerships, including:
- Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness
- Local NHS and mental health advocates
- Faith and community groups
- Kingston University chaplaincy
Our Goal: £120,000
We need to raise £120,000 to make this vision a reality:
- £80,000 for 2 years of rent and utility costs.
- £40,000 for refurbishment, equipment, and start-up costs.
Every donation helps us open our doors. Whether you can give £10 or £10,000, your support is building hope.
